All packages expertly designed for wildlife photographers, divers, birders, and families seeking the world’s most extraordinary natural experience.

Papua Bird of Paradise Tour Packages

Our Papua expedition packages are designed for discerning wildlife enthusiasts who demand the best — from dedicated ornithologists seeking rare species to diving photographers chasing world-record reefs, and families wanting a once-in-a-generation adventure. Every package combines expert guidance, premium accommodation aboard liveaboard vessels, and exclusive access to sites not available through standard tour operators.

Papua Bird of Paradise is the specialist operator for West Papua expedition travel under the Juara Holding Group. Our guides have decades of combined experience leading expeditions in Raja Ampat, the Bird’s Head Peninsula, Cenderawasih Bay, and the remote forests of the Arfak Mountains — habitats that together hold more Bird of Paradise species and marine biodiversity than anywhere else on earth.

All packages include airport transfers in Sorong or Manokwari, expert bilingual guides, national park entry fees, and 24-hour expedition support. We handle all logistics so you can focus entirely on the experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the best time of year to visit?
October through April offers the calmest seas and best visibility (20–30m+) in northern Raja Ampat. Bird of Paradise males display most actively April through August. The shoulder months of October–November and April–May offer the best of both worlds for combined diving-birding expeditions.
What certification level do I need for diving?
Open Water (OW) minimum for standard sites. Advanced Open Water recommended for sites like Blue Magic, Magic Mountain, and currents-heavy drift dives. Non-divers are welcome — snorkelling is exceptional in Raja Ampat and Bird of Paradise forest experiences require no diving at all.
How many people per expedition?
Most liveaboard departures accommodate 8–12 guests maximum. This small-group size ensures personal attention from guides, less impact on leks and dive sites, and a significantly better experience than larger-group operators. Private charters are available for 2–12 guests on exclusive-use vessels.
How far in advance should I book?
Prime season departures (October–April) book 6–12 months ahead. We strongly recommend booking at minimum 6 months in advance. Last-minute availability occasionally exists — contact us for current openings.

How Our Tour Packages Are Structured

Every Papua Bird of Paradise tour package is built on three core pillars: expert local knowledge, responsible wildlife access, and genuine comfort. We don’t offer mass-market itineraries that rush visitors from site to site. Instead, we design experiences that prioritise quality of encounter over quantity of destinations — because a single, perfect bird of paradise display witnessed at dawn in pristine rainforest is worth infinitely more than a rushed glimpse at ten sites.

Our package pricing includes all accommodation, meals, local transport, park fees, community access fees, and dedicated guide service. International flights are not included but we can provide detailed routing recommendations and, for premium packages, can coordinate with specialist travel agents for business class and luxury transfers.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum group size for a tour?

We cater to solo travellers, couples, and small groups. There is no minimum group size — all our packages can be arranged for a single person. Solo travellers benefit from the same dedicated guide and logistics as larger groups.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking at least 3 months in advance for most packages, and 6 months for peak season (June-September) or premium liveaboard combinations. Popular dates fill quickly, especially for multi-week comprehensive expeditions.

Are your packages suitable for families with children?

Yes — we design family-friendly itineraries suitable for children aged 8 and above. Younger children can be accommodated depending on the specific package and activities. We adjust the pace, accommodation choice, and activity difficulty to match your family’s needs.

Can I customise a package?

Absolutely — customisation is our speciality. Tell us your interests, physical fitness level, photography aspirations, preferred accommodation style, and budget, and we will design a completely bespoke itinerary. The packages on this page are starting frameworks, not fixed constraints.
